you're missing my point. the problems they have now they didn't have before the Westerners carved up the Ottoman empire. the underlying issues might have predated the west being ******s, but the west being ******s made it go from kind of a problem to a huge problem.
the west might not have been the origin of the issues, but they certainly made them much, much worse.
Exactly, the western world hasn't been around for the majority of the time, therefore they can't be the cause of the majority of the problems.
the Ottoman empire ruled much of the middle East for centuries before WW1. They had problems like any country, but not like the level of chaos that has been prevalent since the west carved it into zones they could control.
yeah, because when talking about American history I usually start at 3000 BC.
when saying that the west is at fault for the problems in the middle East today, 3000 BC is in no way relevant to the discussion.
To sum it up in two sentences from about 3000 bc to about 200 bc(might be a little off with dates) the Ancient Egyptian empire tore through countless civilizations and enslaved them, and was pretty much at war constantly with the ones around they couldn't. Not too long after that the Jews and Christians and Muslim's started tearing at each other and the Jews and Muslims are still going at it while Isis is leading a genocide campaign against Christians in Syria, Iraq, and Libya.
*in the Middle East and Africa
You should really read the statement historybuff. Terror, chaos, and power struggles were prevelant throughout history, not just when western civilization intervened.
the middle East had been mostly under one unified empire for centuries before the Western powers carved it apart and plunged the middle East into chaos after WW 1.
Please do some cursory investigation if you don't know what you're talking about.
People act like the middle east was not problematic before western civilization intervened. The middle east is known for its chaos and anarchy BC and AD. I agree with you Jack Tim.
Conflicts between the religions in that area has gone on for millenniums without western influence. Western countries haven't really helped but they are far from being at fault.
