In addition to the measly salary, I would guess the lousy treatment from customers has a lot to do with people not working there for long periods. Some people treat food workers really crappy. Some people may want to work their way into management, but you have to have the right temperament to deal with jerks.
Teenagers need money mostly for fun and buy their own needs. It means they do not work to support their family financially. They may use the salary they get to buy the latest gadgets or to buy fancy clothes. Although perhaps, the salary is not so big but they are quite satisfied with the salary they receive. I guess that’s the reason why most people working at McDonald’s are teenagers.
Most people work initially at McDonald's and that is fine. You gain experience and you learn how the real world really works. However, you are not supposed to stay there after you are 30. Go back to school after you finish your shift today.
If you like to prepare food, become a chef. Why work for $10.10 when you can make $101 per hour working at a very nice restautant?
