I forgot to add that I don't support the position that there's some kind of afterlife, but we still can't know and that's still not the right way to conclude. I also don't think that there are these types of immaterial things, but maybe there are.
Blind people actually do see blackness in their mind's eye. The colour black is the absence of anything in the visible light spectrum, so perfect blackness is technically nothing. People who've gone blind after birth can describe what they see and they call it blackness, people who have always been blind just feel an "abyss" and construct a world with sounds and touch, but they see blackness because blackness is nothingness
but immaterial things wouldn't be able to be noticed in these researches almost by definition. How do you logically prove that there's no afterlife? Even if you somehow prove that there are no immaterial things (which you don't do by not noticing them), you still didn't prove that there's no afterlife. You can't claim that there's no afterlife if you haven't been dead. And also one experiment was done measuring the body before and after the moment of death, and it was a bit lighter after, suggesting the existence of a soul. You could say that these were gasses, oxygen and stuff like that, but the difference in weight was momentous, which wouldn't be the case if they were gasses.
We don't know the truth and if it is existing, so we take truth as stuff we can logically prove. Everything you look at might not be real just because the Matrix theory, but that doesn't make stuff false. No one can even logically prove that theory. My theory have a pretty strong argument, because immaterial stuff (Not like light. like magic and that stuff) wasn't noticed in researching condition even a single time. That makes my theory closer to being the truth than the soul theory.
For that, we would need to conclude where does consciousness come from. We know it's our brain that produces it materialistically, but what if we have immaterial minds? And since we can't know that, we can't know whether there's afterlife.
What do blind people see? They aren't seeing darkness. They don't see. No information.
Same about death.
What do dead people feel? They aren't feeling nothing. They don't feel. Not even negative information. The absolute absence of information. Like thinking about a true nothing. It is impossible to imagine, because "nothing" is not "something". You can imagine "something", but imagining "nothing" is like trying to read a book the pages if which are not blank, but simply don't exist.
how do you know?
I can see why you would think that, and I have been close to beleiving that myself. I have just choosen to live in beleive that the christian god exists and the same goes for the christian afterlife. I have found that it helps me in my every day to have that beleive. So I beleive you need to beleive in what will help you yourself the most.
