So the next time a Republican tells you anything about "trickle down economics" or that a tax break on billionaires will somehow benefit you, understand that they are lying to your face.
Here is a link to an article describing a study done by the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service. They found that there was virtually no wage growth. There was no surge in GDP, the GDP continued at the predicted growth. So everything the republicans said would happen, didn't happen. The only significant outcomes of this tax change are:
1) The rich get richer through stock buybacks
2) the tax revenue taken in by the government went down by a lot. Thus increasing the deficit.
*3) there are some temporary benefits for the middle class that were tacked on at the last minute to help sell it. but they expire in a few years. The main stuff, the stuff that makes the rich richer, are permanent.
I would also add that it had no long term benefits for anyone who isn't a millionare, but topics need to be short.
