Virtuality is not perfect, it complements physical connection, but it's significantly more fulfilling to digital natives than old people.
What do u mean by threat? As far as something able to extinguish human conversations I don't think virtual conversations happen to be a threat, although it may negatively influnce in the short term... looking it at the medium to long term, it also can be the only thing that can manage so people have any future human interaction with someone happening that would never happen anymore otherwise
