everything is a tool.
assuming is wrong, but it's also vital. there's a reason why it's so natural to do it. No matter the situation, we have to limit our options at any given moment.
as an investigator, you keep all options open, but you start with the most likely possibility.
the problem with assuming is when you jump to conclusions.
I guess the "politically correct" (lol) for correct assuming is educated guessing, its a vital skill as long as you call it what it is, your best guess.
that's why I used the gambling analogy.
it is likely for sure but to jump to it to begin with makes such investigations biased. I think it will likely be but I also think there are other scenarios to consider. if it's just an idiot kid should his life be in danger because people got riled up so much they become a mob? or if it's even just a racist idiot. we don't do mob justice.
a noose in a negro museum...
it'll be a heck of a coincidence for it to be anything besides racism. it could be suicide, but when's the last time someone tried to hang themselves? nowadays it's usually guns, pills, or jumping from high places. the last person I heard dying from hanging was just trying to masturbate.
It's like saying the swastika on the synagogue may have been a child scribbling randomly.
I know I'm assuming and I'm in no way suggesting we skip a comprehensive investigation, but id confidently put my money on racism.
back to the subject though has anyone found who did this and why?
but most people don't have the time nor knowledge to vet their news properly. and here comes the goal of fake news. not to convince people of lies, cause that will always be a struggle, but to make people question and stop caring about any of the information they are getting.
And that will kill the entire free press, and eventually, our democracy.
alternative facts is retarded.
Yeah. No disagreement on fake news in general.
my problem is the war on real news with alternative facts and declaring anyone disagreeing with you as fake without a legitamete reason.
the whole point of that tactic is to make people question the free press which is the only mechanism we have to keeping powerful people in check.
this is an existential threat to our democracy.
on that example I meant overall fake news but for cnn I will search properly when I can
pretty sure I remember a real arrest over private businesses, but i may be mixing this up with the baker debate. this site confirms there was a fake story, but only mentioned this fake story going around fake right wing sites, not CNN.
but I'm not doubting there is fake news, I'm trying to see why you feel CNN is not credible, and I'm not sure this is relevant to that. I see no sign of this being on CNN
also, reporters are human. I'm always worried when I ask for 1 example because people will find the 1 or 2 times CNN made a mistake in decades. as long as they do a retraction/ correction and usually have methods to avoid such errors it's acceptable in my view, I hope you agree.
u misunderstood what I meant. I meant when we were talking about he preacher that was supposedly arrested for not marrying a gay couple but when actually looked at it was found as a fake.
the preacher could not have been arrested for not marrying gays. I think we discussed this one before. (at least I did here with someone).
he was running a for profit business of some kind and that was the problem. a truly religious, in the name of god, program would not be a for profit organization.
once you are a for profit organization, discrimination is against the law, and gets you arrested. considering the level of this national controversy, such an incident, that does not happen often, or perhaps this was the first, is worthy of public attention.
it certainly has made the rounds in this debate app a few times. do you really feel it's completely irrelevant?
for cnn I would have to go back and search it but bad news like the preacher getting arrested for not doing gay marriage is an example of riling up people which isn't good. news I think is good but media has plenty of bad and I kind of wish it would just stop.
"many" are, but many are always garbage. most bands suck, most movies are in no way masterpieces...
CNN is not many, its a long time, top tier, news organization, just like the new York Times. both of these are now considered politicized, but were both considered exceptional prior to this election and rampant accusations of fake news. fake news are sites that I was forced to examine today like "topsecretleaks.com" the problems with which should be apparent to anyone just by the name.
May I remind people what fake news was during the election. hillary's pizzeria child sex rings, hitmen, and being the antichrist. utter nonsense, not spin. the right wing PR organizations (not constituents or most leaders, like heritage foundation) are genius at spin, and have even utilized the nightmare of their fake news that gutted our democracy during the election as a weapon against their opponents to demonize any scrutiny of suspicious activity.
fox is real news with political spin, but that accusation has been around for decades, not just this election and situation. I've never seen a mainstream claim like that against NYT or CNN.
I asked for examples where CNN deserved this accusation, and I do not condone a world where nothing is trusted because that means we can only rely on ignorance and opinion. i do not believe the constitutionally protected press in this greatest of countries is as worthless as the right claims. I think this anti press sentiment is the spin. prove me wrong with examples please, not belief.
I think a lot if news places have been "bending" truths to put it nicely. this is on both sides though. we have plenty of that as well. idk about the one u listen to I'll have to check it out.
can you give me an example of CNN spinning a story in an unreliable way for political purposes?
I prefer NPR but CNN is a well known, news organization with a reputation and long history of reliable news.
do you feel CNN is objectively spinning truth and spreading falsehoods, or just running stories you subjectively disagree with.
What do you consider a reliable news source?
I'm not against ur arguement right now. I'm just cautious and would not like to join a mob mentality. it doesn't seem like we should just assume racism. though if found then it needs to end
I will wait and research the situation, when I have ALL the facts, I will reassess my situation...
I don't mean offense but I wouldn't call CNN a reliable source. it will do anything to help the demecratic agenda no matter what. NBC is the same.
could it not be possible that this was someone who backed out of suicide or just idiot kids? to immediately assume it's racism only helps it. now if this really is such an event then I hope they bring him to justice.
Lynching was the FIRST CHOICE Of RACISTS.......
did a tad bit of research but it looks all over the place. for one they can't seem to decide if it's in a tree or inside the museum. could u provide a credible link? also why noose? if they were racist wouldnt a whip do better? or shackles?
Fucking UNBELIEVABLE.............! ????????????????????????????????
