Eventually space travel is going to be part of human civilization, but we are not there yet. There is too much I efficiency in our methods of propulsion to make near space attainable, let alone interstellar travel. Look at the survival estimate for a Mars colony. If we can't send people to Mars with an expectation of survival, we should hold off on space exploration and colonization until the technology is advanced enough to make it feasible.
