That would mean hypocrisy because you don't tolerate violence outside the prison walls and crimes such as murder are highly unacceptable and punished harshly. What message are you sending to society if you incourage violence in the prisons but not out of them. Society will begin to think 'oh since its okay in prison why can't I do it out of prison.'The perception society will be given will work it's way to fight the law. You have to practice what you preach
There isn't too much of a difference between people and criminals, that is why people that think they are good are surprised to find themselves in stripes or an orange jumpsuit. The real problem is effectiveness and incentive. The only reason to allow them to die is if they already have a death sentence, and to make them fight each other they need a reason to. I think that it isn't actually a bad idea, just that it isn't feasable. Somehow, we value human life and believe it is worthless at the same time, but with a show at least the lowest a life has is a ticket or gamble on odds. Revenue is nice too, it would promise smaller sentences, and as for being cruel or unusual, it would mean that they cannot be forced to fight is all. Giving prizes to prisoners participating is enough if they agree to not be cruel, and this isn't an unusual concept. After all, prison doesn't aim to reeducate people, only to keep criminals away from society and fear breaking the law.
If u do so than what is the difference between u and them.
On what bases? Corrupt prison institutions?
We're not in ancient Rome here. We have a constitution for a reason.
