It was also to make sure a national religion was never established. If the Bible were codified as law, that means Christianity becomes the defacto national religion. I wouldn't support that any more than I would support the Quran being the basis for our legal code.
actually the letter that was built on was to assure some non-christians (sorry can't remember who they are) that the gov. will not take away their religion.
if you think the founding fathers wanted the Bible to be the Constitution then you don't understand them at all. they enshrined the separation of church and state. they specifically said that was not what they wanted. I do not understand how anyone could think that unless they were completely ignorant of the Constitution.
well I'm guessing he's coming from Adam and Eve being made equal. on poor thing that's more rogues story than mine. what I do know is I've seen some female preachers.
it would allow atheist. when it talks about atheist for the most part it says to gaurds ur heart from them and accept them and if their OK with it talk about Jesus.
Aah, I understand. I thought you were saying it would promote equality for women and ban atheism. My apologies.
Where in the Bible, or those who follow it, do you find equality for women? How many Popes have been women? Half would be equality.
Bible would allow----
1)equality for women
2)It wouldnt allow atheists
Realistically speaking, the founding fathers expected the constitution to be based on the bible as they believed the existence of god to be common sense and did not think that a belief opposite to that would appear in the future. They were also against perversions such as gay marriage but liberal cancers did their job of deception to twist the interpretation of what the founders meant by the word "marriage". Do you seriously think that when they said "marriage" they were talking about homosexuals? and if so, then why was homosexuality illegal? do you seriously think they created the constitution using the definition of marriage which was concocted over 200 years after them?
the Constitution pulls a lot of its ideas from different sources. one such being the Bible.
Bible is a teaching from Christianity, it is a belief of religion, should not be mixed up with constitution. the constitution need to be enact based on the principle of democracy but not merely based on Bible.
look at last couple of sentences. and u can definitely make religion a part of gov. . most of our forefathers wanted it that way. like I said read my comment.
the Bible is a mess of conflicting messages. if that were the bases of your legal system you would be more messed up than you are now.
not to mention that America has freedom of religion. that also means freedom from religion. you cannot make religion a part of the government.
can i ask you a question?
well a lot of what the Constitution is based on is the Bible. or Christians themselves. we believe in tolerance and forgiveness. we also want peace first if obtainable. so I do not see a problem. I suspect some would say this will push out other religions but I would like to point out the tolerance part
I mean you know..... hmmm..... Countries like Saudi Arabia follows Quran as their constitution. I wonder what would happen if the US chose bible as the constitution. Will it be good or bad? All opinions are welcome .
