" I'm not saying his racism is right or justified, but he has very strong feelings that can be difficult to let go."
his racism may not be justifiable but it is certainly understandable. by that token is it not understandable that some people would hold a grudge against another group (police) if they or their relatives were tortured into false confessions or killed in questionable circumstances or already in custody?
"Almost nobody is racist without reason, but that also doesn't make it right."
I disagree with this statement. many people are racist for the sole reason that racism was the narrative they were raised with and have had limited life experiences with those people to show them otherwise.
Colonialization also plays role on racism. It goes generation to generation. Even people being oppressed don't realize they are oppressed and they are sometimes racist because they learned it from the society on how some people are more superior than others although it is not true. Sad isn't? racism doesn't always have to do with skin colour.
Some people are raised on certain racist ideologies, and throwing away and ideology (especially one as strong as racism) can be a very difficult thing to to. People can also go through certain situations that cause or strengthen racist feelings. Like my uncle. My uncle was randomly jumped by four black guys with a tire-iron. He kicked their asses (he's a big dude), but they also broke his jaw with the tire-iron. I'm not saying his racism is right or justified, but he has very strong feelings that can be difficult to let go.
Almost nobody is racist without reason, but that also doesn't make it right.
racists rarely think they are racist. many of them are looking for a scapegoat, while some believe we are headed for a race war which they are determined to win.
