Alex, I don't need a God to keep myself moral. If you really need fear of going to heaven or hell (as you try to pressure me into), you are by definition a sociopath.
Religion should never come before law
Oh God it's the abortion debate again. a fetus by definition is not a person. and there are religious people who think the same thing. so that isn't the important detail of this debate.
killing people is good morals?
there are lots of atheists with good morals. just not with your antiquated, pre-enlightenment religious dogma.
ok if there are no atheists with good morals then I will never vote for one.
that's because pro-life Republicans are all religious zealots. And God willing we will never have another one of those as American president. (yes that was for irony)
never met an athiest with good morals who is pro-life and a rebublican, if there is one then okay he sounds good.
omg yes all you should look for in a president is a smart man who has good opinions on things
Yes, closed minded people who decide that belief in God is a prerequisite for logic and morality and therefore demonize anyone who doesn't pray to their God.
I'm not sure where you are getting your information but I don't remember anyone trying to destroy the world by recreating the big bang. Scientists are working to keep people from dying, but why that is any more evil than any other form of life saving medicine eludes me. As to your last point, people have suggested using computers to avoid bias in the justice system for quite some time, but I have yet to see a practical implementation of the concept. In theory it would make the justice system more just since it would no longer be influenced by race, gender, fame or money, but solely by the law. The problem is that there are always situations that do not fit cookie cutter solutions so it has never, to my knowledge, been attempted.
People like me?????? if I remember correctly their is a group of atheist run government in england and Sweden who are developing AI to take control of judicial justice an are making immortal vaccines because they fear death and tried to make the recreation of the big bang theory for hate of god and not care for world destruction. so who is bad ?
People like you are the reason that all presidential candidates either endorsed a Christian religion, or did not talk about their faith at all. You have decided that anyone who doesn't believe in God is obviously a monster incapable of reason or morals who would destroy society. Do you have any justification for this belief?
you've made one of my points for me. being religious, or at least claiming to be religious is not a reasonable way of determining a good person. For example, people fighting for ISIS are extremely religious. I doubt many people want them for their president. Being religious and being a good leader are not linked traits. Bush said all the time how he was religious. it didn't stop him from being the worst President in American history.
okay give me a name of a moral atheist president. two claiming to worship a higher being dose not mean they do so or worship the one you think they do. it is to win the favorable vote. three a god or deity could be anything even luck or fertility every one gives everything a meaning their is nothing without a meaning. like the god of blind justice is she real no but its a belief people give meaning to make their every day world possible.
That may have been the stupidest thing I've ever read. America has had many incompetent, corrupt Presidents who claimed to follow god. it didn't stop them doing terrible things. Religion has never stopped terrible things being done. it's often done in the name of religion. more and more people today don't believe in God. they are, on the whole, logical and rational people. saying that not believing in God makes you incapable of justice is just plain dumb.
atheist that dose not believed in a higher beings is not a thing. As a president having power and control makes one a self deity or higher being. if we had a true atheist president I'm sure he would not see good or evil but see it all as part of human nature and he or she would allow all actions without discrimination or justice in the end we are all human and capable of the same things but what keeps us from doing certain things is not knowledge or intuition but fear of what every one fear something and that is a deity threat they will worship like death or the deity of the invisible rules of justice what humans call right or wrong is a deity its self
Not sure why it changed my vote but I've fixed it now.
What you believe is right is far more important than what deity you believe in.
I'm pretty sure we've had a few atheist presidents, its just hard to get elected if you say you're not a christian
Of course it would be. People put way too much stock in religion.
